The current economic crisis that the world faces is felt particularly strongly in Spain’s Golf Market. Despite the market suffering tremendously after a booming decade of new golf projects, one course, La Quinta Golf and Country Club, is still investing to improve its facilities in order to provide a first class service to visitors and guests.

Golf Resort is the architect of a continuous programme of investment to place La Quinta at the forefront of the very best facilities the Costa del Sol has to offer. Over €500,000 will be devoted to renewing equipment to ensure the best possible results are produced during the daily task of turf management. Toro equipment was chosen by Mr. Scott Evans (La Quinta Golf’s Managing Director) due to an existing agreement between Toro and Troon Golf, La Quinta’s management partner – Toro being Troon Golf’s preferred supplier.

Several meetings were held with Jose Luis Gomez (Club Manager) and Antonio Pineda (Course Superintendent) prior to finalizing an agreement including La Quinta, Troon Golf, Toro and Riversa (Toro’s Spanish Distributor since 1976). Equipment and accessories were carefully chosen with La Quinta Golf’s turf management in mind. Julian Lara, Riversa Managing Director, and Arturo Moran, Toro Sales Manager Golf Equipment for Southern Europe were the representing suppliers.

The Toro Company (NYSE: TTC) is a leading worldwide provider of turf and landscape maintenance equipment, and precision irrigation systems. With sales of nearly $1.523 billion in 2008, Toro’s global presence extends to more than 140 countries through its reputation of world-class service, innovation and turf expertise. Since 1914, the company has built a tradition of excellence around a number of strong brands to help customers care for golf courses, sports fields, public green spaces, commercial and residential properties, and agricultural fields. Situated in the heart of the Marbella Golf Valley, only 5 minutes away from Puerto Banús, La Quinta Golf and Country Club is managed by Troon Golf – the world’s leader in golf course management - and is one of the most prestigious courses on the Costa del Sol. Designed by renowned golfer Manuel Piñero and now home to the Benahavís Senior Masters, the 27 holes form part of the La Quinta Golf Resort which includes a 172 bedroom five star hotel and Moroccan influenced SPA.
